T20 World Cup 2014 Schedule

All the previous four versions of the ICC T20 World Cup have been a hit among the masses and there is no doubt in anybody’s mind that this edition will also be a great hit! The fifth edition of the ICC T20 World Cup will be starting from March 16 next year and will end on April 6. All the previous editions of the ICC World T20 \have been played in completely different conditions. The first one was played on the fast and bouncy tracks of South Africa and it led to the emergence of India as one of the cricketing giants. The second edition was in the birthplace of Cricket, England and Pakistan was crowned the champions. The venue was shifted to the Caribbean only to crown England as the Champion. The last edition was played in Sri Lanka and the West Indian Cricket team won it this time returning to the list of champions after a long time.

The fifth edition of the ICC World T20 is scheduled to be played on three specific venues in Bangladesh and it will be expected that the championship will be a complete entertainer. Most of the foreign teams face a common problem when they6 come to play on Indian – subcontinent is the inability to adjust to the slow turning tracks. Thus, the schedule has been done in such a way that the teams get enough warm up games before the main draw starts and at the same time get enough rest in the middle of the series.

There will be 16 teams participating in the main tournament. The event has been scheduled in such a way that there are the top 8 teams who will be a part of the main draw. The lower two teams and six teams from the second division leagues who will have qualified will have to clear the qualifying rounds. There will be eight teams in the qualifiers and only one team from the two groups will be able to reach the final stage. The teams in the main group stage will battle it against each other and the top two teams from the two groups will reach the semi – finals and the winners will qualify for the finals. Ultimately, after a refreshing battle of 21 days of intense battle, one team will emerge the champions.

The teams that have won the tournament in the previous years are India, Pakistan, England and West Indies. Although the sub – continental teams are expected to have a better understanding of the game in these type of conditions but when it is about T20 nothing is impossible. We might have another team to lift the trophy this time or one of the former champions can very well lift the trophy. All we can do is wait to enjoy some great stroke making prospects.
